Knowing which household appliances consume the most energy can be a way of managing them more efficiently and thus saving some money.
Want to reduce your electricity bill but don't know where to start? You've come to the right article. Knowing which household appliances consume the most energy can help you manage them more efficiently and save some money.
‘If you're serious about reducing your household bills, it's worth thinking about a long-term strategy, and this involves not only buying more energy-efficient appliances, but also realising which ones consume more energy and consequently have a higher cost of use,’ says the tariff comparison company Selectra.
To help consumers make more efficient choices, Selectra has estimated the cost per hour of using the kitchen appliances you use to cool and heat food, taking into account their common electrical power:

‘According to the data in the table, of all the appliances used to cook food, the microwave is considerably the most economical of all, regardless of the energy tariff you have contracted. However, if you have to choose to use the oven or electric hob, Selectra's advice is to opt for off-peak hours (22h-8h) if you have a two-hour tariff, and prepare several meals straight away, in order to make the most of the energy used by these appliances,’ Selectra adds.
