Portugal is one of the hottest countries in Europe - it is the 5th European country with the highest average annual temperatures, only surpassed by the Vatican, Greece, Cyprus and Malta, which is the country with the highest average temperature.
For this reason, the need for an air conditioning system in the home is high, as a fundamental tool for dealing with the heat, which can even be extreme in some periods and regions of the country.
We therefore show you the advantages and disadvantages of having air conditioning.
Advantages:
- It works for any situation: it's a solution that works all year round, meaning that as well as cooling the house in summer, it also works to heat the house in the colder months;
- It's faster: it cools the house quickly and persistently. Just press a button and in a few minutes you can keep your living space at the desired temperature all year round;
- Can cool several rooms: this solution can air-condition more than one room (multisplit and portable).
- It has multiple functions: as well as being able to regulate the temperature, it can also control the humidity, as well as the air filter. Of course, everything will depend on the characteristics of the model you choose, but today an air conditioner does much more than heat or cool the room, it can even improve the indoor air quality in the space where it is installed;
- It's quiet: with constant technological innovations, air conditioning units are becoming quieter and quieter. Of course, this will also depend on the model you choose, but today there's no shortage of solutions that you won't even hear when they're running;
- It's more energy efficient: air conditioning is the most efficient climate control equipment when compared to the other alternatives, i.e. it has the lowest ratio between energy consumption and equipment performance. Even so, when buying an air conditioner, favour a model with an energy label between A+ and A+++.
Disadvantages:
- Requires greater initial investment: despite its many advantages, it is a solution that requires a greater investment.
- It needs to be installed by an accredited technician: the installation of an air conditioner is complex and labour-intensive and should only be carried out by a specialised professional.
- Requires more maintenance: It is necessary to carry out some maintenance on your air conditioning equipment and clean the filters periodically to ensure the best performance from the equipment.
